"Well it still may be the Renaissance era but they had Da Vinci so Tanks and Airships are totally cool!" Is what I'm guessing happened when they thought of adding Da Vinci Tanks.

These things are so overpowered that once a game session hits the Renaissance period it becomes a competition of which nation can manage the largest number of tanks. To be fair though this does require a good tech development plan. Also, since a tank needs to have a driver and gunner on the same party for maximum output, it requires more coordination than simply driving a mount alone and steamrolling through enemy territory.

The main role for airships is for transportation which the Romans used well during this session. They organized 15 airships and stormed the capitol of China with paratroopers even while fighting fiercely in the frontlines against the Chinese and Egyptians.

I can't wait to see what kind of crazy stuff they have ready for modern eras.
