WARREN | Civic Hybrid IMA Battery Repair Recondition @JohnCalebWarren | Uploaded November 2017 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
This is how I repaired a dead 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid IMA battery. Reconditioned all the sticks individually, deep cycled the whole battery. I would strongly recommend staying away from these cars. They have a lot of issues that need to be worked out, being the first hybrid batteries in America. They had multiple temperature sensor issues, dozens of super sensitive BCM fault codes, problems with the AC/DC power inverter & NiMH battery sticks.
All in all I believe Honda did a great job of getting the technology out there in early 2000's but Toyota won the gold metal by fixing all the mistakes Honda made. Buy a Toyota and not a civic hybrid. The Prius is a well built hybrid with all the bugs worked out already.
