Burners Without Borders presents “Creative Interventions: Response, Resilience & Regeneration
This call explores the impact of creative interventions—community-driven initiatives that reframe how we meet our challenges through art and creative practice.
These stories come from across the BWB network and embody the lenses through which our work is framed: Response, Resilience, and Regeneration.
Each project tackles its local context differently, but they share a core truth: creativity helps people face challenges, care for each other, and envision a collective future.
Comparsa / Peronia Adolescente (Guatemala)
Born out of systemic violence, this youth-led movement turns artistic expression into a tool for healing and transformation. Through performance, puppetry, and paint, two sisters lead a response effort that creates safety, belonging, and beauty in their community.
CHIditarod (Chicago, USA)
This costumed shopping cart race is more than just a spectacle—it’s a playful, participatory solution to food insecurity. By mobilizing creativity, competition, and community donations, CHIditarod channels public energy into real-world support for local food systems and mutual aid.
Replant the Forest (Los Angeles, USA)
Merging festivals with ecological restoration, this team regenerates damaged landscapes through music, art, and collective action. It’s a celebration of life and a commitment to repairing our relationship with the land.
