City Voices is a true champion of the peer support workforce, which is made up of professionals who've battled their own mental health and substance use challenges and use their lived experiences to help others on their journey to recovery. We've built an amazing online community where peers can connect, support each other, and fight back against the isolating stigma that often accompanies mental illness.
Through our virtual support group, Peer Workers United, and the Friendship Squad, which has been bringing peers together for over two years, City Voices is helping our peers build friendships, feel empowered, and challenge stereotypes. We're also all about having fun, organizing events like "Kracking Up," where comedians poke fun at their own struggles with mental health and substance use, and in-person outings called PIPs, where peers explore parks, cafes, and museums together.
And that's not all! City Voices also encourages a spiritual component to wellness, inviting peers to relax in silence and meditate with the guidance of a real-life Buddhist monk. City Voices is an inspiring force for good, and a shining example of the amazing things that happen when peers come together to lift each other up.
