When you hear the word MMO, this probably isn’t what comes to mind.
Guns. Cover-based combat. A dark, futuristic city. And yet… this is actually being built as a real MMO.
This game was originally known as Project LLL, and after a long period of silence, it suddenly reappeared under a new name — Cinder City.
Revealed again at Gamescom and G-Star, Cinder City is an upcoming MMO shooter being developed and published by NCSoft. While it looks like a third-person shooter at first glance, the developers have confirmed that the core of the game is a massively multiplayer online experience, with a shared open world, large-scale player encounters, and MMO-style progression.
In this video, I break down what Cinder City really is, how it evolved from Project LLL, what makes it an MMO instead of just a shooter, and why it’s one of the more interesting MMO projects coming out of NCSoft.
