LuckyMe Advent returns for 2022 with new music from the whole family.
For the art this year we asked the incredible Paul Peng to create a large illustration that summed up the mood of things opening up post-pandemic: this nervous, frenetic energy on the streets with people ultimately forced to move around structures that always existed. Where LUCKYME® exists in all this is, I think, a place where things needn’t be so stressful. This thing that maintains us making work with friends and artists we love in a way that is self perpetuating. And the more secure we feel, the more we want to create bigger and weirder records and artwork that stretch out into the world. And we have a lot of that ready to run in 2023. LUCKYME® kick off 2024 with a debut EP from Parisian producer Sunareht. Forged from the scene around Teki Latex and his Sound Pellegrino label, Sunareht - alongside contemporaries Le Dom, To Van Kao, De Grandi and Birol - runs Paradoxe Club, a label championing forward-thinking French dance music. Youth is exactly that - six fizzing club cuts that take the familiar “French Touch” sound, before dialling it up to eleven and flinging it into the far future. Samples are chopped into fluttering sequences and married with the glistening, bass-heavy sound design of post-dubstep and hyperpop.
Following on from first single “Promises” is the bright, euphoric “Break Bandits”, mixing Etienne de Crécy portamento synths and Overmono-style vocal chops with a bumping drum break.
Break Bandits is out digitally everywhere now, and Youth will be released digitally and on vinyl Friday 2 February.
