The "Red Barn General Store" which sat alone on the corner since the turn of the 19th century is now an eight-story condominium. I remember meeting up with the boys every weekend during the summers and hang out by the picnic tables which were set up at the corner of the half gravelled, half dirt parking area. We sat for hours, talk about nothing and everything, watch the cottage owners and passersby come and go, and chat up the girls until Sue (Charlie, the store owner’s wife) would threaten to call our parents and send us off.
it's sad to watch these small towns, familiar landscapes, historic farmland, and tight-knit communities swallowed up and turned into extensions of major cities.
