Epically moving, poignant song from Chumbawamba, here in an unplugged, a cappella configuration. "The bad squire" was originally a poem written by Charles Kingsley in 1847 in defense of poachers, who were harshly punished by the gentry even in times of food shortage. The Chumba adaptation of "The bad squire" was recorded in 2003 and was included in the re-recording of "English rebel songs" which was originally released in 1988 and was a collection of English protest songs ranging from 1381 to 1984. The original version of the Lp did not include "The bad squire" but the band added a couple of songs to make the new version more interesting. Educational music.
