VHS Showtape clip ( filmed from a tv screen ) of the clever 'Austin Powers' parody featured as the Opening Segment from the infamous September 1998 CEC Showtape.
This segment opened the shows run, which at the time was one of the first Showtapes developed for 'Studio C' stages.
It consisted mostly of music video clips ( Paula Abdul, Backstreet Boys, etc. ), movie clips ( The Great Muppet Caper, etc. ) and famous cartoons ( Looney Tunes ).
There was VERY little material or music related to the CEC characters themselves, and was mostly a 'clip show'.
This Opening was definitely a highlight.
The September 998 Showtape is infamous because it was accidentally coded as a 'Generic', non-expiring Showtape.
Showtapes used to be coded to insure copyrighted non-CECE created material could not be played in-Store after it's three month period had 'expired'.
Most 'Generic' showtapes featued material solely created and owned by CECE, but this one slipped past uncoded.
CEC Entertainment issued a recall nationally for the tapes to be returned to Home Office, but a few copies managed to remain in a few Chuck E. Cheese's locations until the early 2000s.
This footage came directly from a original Showtape, in a private collection.
These are very hard to find today due to the recall, where most Stores were instructed to return these to Home Office.
