This is the final project for my "moving image art" and I have a lot to say. Originally intended to be a wildly different video, this project is one that's made purely out of spite. I've never taken a beginner experimental class so mentally draining that I absolutely dreaded showing up to the damn class each wednesday and monday. There were so little assignments bc the class schedule was wasted on teaching mfs how to use after effects. I know it's a beginner class, but I despise people who take a class purely for the credit, which although is literally the point of college, don't treat it seriously in the process. They don't take the class because they're actually invested in learning, and can barely hold a discussion about the medium. On top of that, I hated the way experimental film was interpreted in the class. (also doesn't help I had to cut off the only friend that made going barely tolerable).
The class tries to make sense of topics and art that doesn't inherently try to make sense, not in the way that it spoon-feeds you the message like normal films, and I hated it. Nothing made in the class felt like it wasn't made literally the day the assignment was due. I hated it so fucking much I made a 3 minute video of me staring at you while I finger fucked my bass guitar into moaning for me on video. I made you watch fucking paint dry. I made something satanic, filled with faces that stare back at you out of spite. I sprinkled little whispers left and right to make you uncomfortable and made a video I could fucking do in my sleep, 3 days over.
