![Thomas Tompion Pocket Watch
We had to photograph this c. 1699 Thomas Tompion pocket watch for an upcoming edition of the NAWCCs Watch & Clock Bulletin and, as we were setting up the shot, it decided to serenade us with some gentle ticking...amazing.
Pocket Watch, c. 1699, Thomas Tompion. Full plate fusee verge movement engraved on top plate Tho. Tompion London 2981, balance cock with pierced foot and table with streamers, Tompion regulator, Egyptian pillars, key wind from back, round pendant with stirrup bow. Gold champleve dial has hours in Roman numerals and minutes in Arabic numbers. Inscribed Tompion London in center of face. Plain gold pair cases. Interior of both inner and outer cases are engraved with initials, WS [William Sherwood], London hallmark for 1699, serial number 2981.
