Here are a few ideas to get you started tapping chords.
00:00 Left hand - root and 10ths
00:28 Right hand - 5th and octave
00:40 A cool basic pattern - up and down
00:59 Mixing up the pattern
01:18 Tapping a chord progression - all majors
01:48 Tapping a chord progression - majors and minors
Transcription
Want to try some chords, tapping style? Heres a good way in.
Groove gear fret wrap engaged. One hand has the root and the tenth. A tenth is a third up the octave. This is major [ π΅ Ari plays example π΅ ] and this is minor [ π΅ Ari plays example π΅ ]
Good fingers for that are one and four for the major and one and three for the minor but other possibilities exist.
The other hand - fifth and octave. Root 5 8 10. You can let them ring - or lift them.
And it gets cool when you start coming up with a cool pattern. Heres a good one to get started: [ π΅ Ari plays example π΅ }
Just up and down one two three four five six seven and then wait. Or you can do one two three four five six seven eight and then repeat lower. [ π΅ Ari plays example π΅ ]
Get the motion started with the metronome and get comfortable. You can play them all in order [ π΅ Ari plays example π΅ ]
or you can break them up. Come up with a cool pattern.[ π΅ Ari plays example π΅ ] Make it speak. Focus on speed when you attack that string. Lower action and thinner strings are helpful.
Chord progressions [ π΅ Ari plays example of all major chords π΅ ]

Here AC - Ariane Cap - is showing you how to effectively practice the main riff of AC/DCs Back in Black on bass. Nail the rhythm nail the riff. Nail the technique and you are rocking!
00:00 Introduction - Back in Black Riff
00:18 Technique - Pivot Permutation
00:31 Rhythm - Groups of 3
00:55 Feel it in half-time
01:18 Training wheels off
01:39 Double time for the win!
Transcription:
Had a student the other day who was struggling with this:
[π΅ Back in Black riff π΅]
First of all, watch the technique. If you have ever practiced my Pivot permutations, thats where they pay off: one-two, one -three, one-four (almost). Lets look at the Rhythm for a second. These are mini groups of threes: 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3.
The rhythm det-da, da-da, da-da. What I recommend for you to really feel this rhythm is not so much to break it down in its quarter note components, which is also something you could do, but this one really thrives of being a group of three being moved over a straight groove. Dont touch the metronome - just feel it in half time.
Groups of threes [π΅π΅π΅π΅] and then you take out the training wheel [π΅π΅π΅π΅]
Just feel that note that you just played with the training wheel [π΅π΅π΅π΅] ... and without [π΅π΅π΅π΅] Double time [π΅π΅π΅π΅]
