Create festive silver and gold mantel décor with Rust-Oleum Glitter Spray Paint on wooden trees, Universal Metallic Spray Paint on wood beaded garland, Chalked Ultra Matte Spray Paint on wooden reindeer, and Chalkboard Paint on a frame sign.
To make this DIY chalkboard sign, we removed the insert from a large picture frame and set it aside. We then painted the empty frame with Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Paint, and added final protection with Chalked Ultra Matte Protective Clear Topcoat.
To create the writeable and erasable chalkboard, we used a foam roller to coat the insert of the picture frame with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer. Next, we applied two coats of Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Brush-On Paint.
We used Universal Metallic Spray Paint in Titanium Silver and Pure Gold on the beaded garland and Rust-Oleum Glitter Spray Paint over the metallic painted trees. We then sealed the glitter paint with Rust-Oleum Glitter Sealer. For best results, apply a base coat of spray paint that’s a similar color as your glitter spray paint.
To give unfinished wooden reindeer a classic appearance, we painted them in Linen White Chalked Ultra Matte Paint, followed by Chalked Ultra Matte Clear Topcoat.
