Summer is absolutely my favorite time of the entire year! You get to enjoy amazing things like Usinger's brats served fresh off the grill on delicious Pretzilla buns, and of course, you get incredible Milwaukee Brewers baseball! It is just not truly summer without them, and those of you who have ever listened to the legendary Bob Uecker broadcasting a game know exactly how that goes and the incredible summer vibes I am talking about here.
Now, one of the biggest highlights that happens every single July, typically at your local Hallmark stores, is when they officially debut their brand new Christmas Keepsake Ornaments during their annual Ornament Premiere event! Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but we are officially within six months of Christmas. It is honestly incredibly hard to kind of believe that the holiday season is already creeping up on us again so quickly. We went out and checked out the Hallmark store earlier today to see what was newly released for 2026, and wow, they really delivered some amazing collectibles for the video game community this year.
One of my absolute favorites that I saw on display there was their brand-new classic Sony PlayStation console ornament that they have officially released for the 2026 holiday season. It looks absolutely fantastic and perfectly replicates the original PS1 hardware that so many of us grew up playing. Not only does it look great hanging on a tree, but it sounds absolutely great, too, featuring iconic audio that will hit you right in the retro gaming nostalgia feels.
Now, in addition to that awesome PlayStation piece, they also had this amazing new Nintendo Yoshi ornament. Seeing it on display immediately reminded me of the classic Super Mario ornament I got either last year or the year before, where Mario actually jumps up and hits a yellow coin block. But for me, personally, this specific Yoshi one is just a little bit too expensive for my blood right now. Despite the premium price tag, there is no denying that this piece is super cute and incredibly well-crafted for Nintendo fans looking to upgrade their video game holiday decor.
They also had this really good-looking Link ornament from The Legend of Zelda series on display as well. I have to admit, I didn't quite recognize the specific music track being played with it when you press the button, but the sheer attention to detail on this sculpt was absolutely second to none. The paint application and the dynamic pose are top-tier for a Keepsake ornament.
Now, it is worth noting that not all of the video game ornaments on display had music or sound effects tied to them. For example, they had this incredible Super Mario ornament that featured Fireball Mario, along with a separate Lakitu ornament hovering in his cloud. These both looked really, really good! They also had a fantastic Sega Sonic the Hedgehog ornament where he is holding a Chaos Emerald, too. If you are a huge fan of Pokemon, they had a really cool Captain Pikachu ornament, along with several other iconic Pokemon ornaments as well that would look perfect on any retro gamer's Christmas tree. I thought these all looked exceptionally good and captured the characters perfectly for 2026.
And then, for those of you out there who are looking for something a little bit more on the less expensive side of things, they had some awesome mini ornaments! They had a classic Sega Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog 2 cartridge ornament, along with a modern Xbox controller ornament, and a cute little Toad ornament as well. Overall, these were really cool-looking and are perfect budget-friendly additions to your holiday setup.
And honestly, that is just touching on the video game side of things! For me, being a massive Disney nerd, too, man, they had a lot of really cool Disney-themed stuff here that I could easily spend a small fortune on.
Now, I know it is still only July, and thinking about winter weather is crazy, but I want to know your thoughts!
