Go back just a handful of generations and you'll find that Christmas was celebrated slightly differently. A long standing tradition existed of telling ghost stories during the season. It's unclear how this tradition even came to exist. But we know it was real and as strong as any other.
It seems to have peaked during the Victorian era, with printing technology giving writers like Charles Dickens the ability to self publish. Although now a lost tradition, it has left us with some of the greatest stories ever told. In this video I have selected just two of them for us to look into.
