In 2008, I was 24 years old. I was working overnight stocking shelves in a grocery store, and living in a small bedroom in Glenside, Pennsylvania...sharing a bathroom with 3 other young men.
I had just met and started seeing someone for about a month, who I ended up being with for nearly 7 years.
Since we had only met in November of that year, it was natural that we didn’t have plans to spend the holiday together. Even though she lived just 2 minutes away from me, she was spending it with her family back in Virginia.
On Christmas Eve, I couldn’t stop thinking about her, and wished we were together. As a last minute “gift” for her, I recorded this cover in my bedroom on my 4 track cassette recorder.
By the time it was finished and uploaded to YouTube, it was technically Christmas morning. I sent her an email with the subject simply, “baby, please come home.”
So here again is my cover of Darlene Love’s classic, “Christmas, (Baby Please Come Home)”, from Christmas Day 2008.
I’ve always loved this song. Not only does it simultaneously feel joyful and heartbreaking...but it’s the opening track of “Gremlins”.
If you want to download the full song for FREE, or hear my original music (I have 3 full length albums available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify etc), just got to my website theghostinyou.net
