Christine first came to Burnley Community Grocery when she unexpectedly had to sign up for Universal Credit. Having just separated from her husband, she was struggling financially and looking for ways to help her mental health. Stepping inside the grocery, Christine noticed everyone was full of joy and she immediately felt welcome. Wanting some of that for herself, she signed up to volunteer in the store and ‘it’s been life changing’ for her.
After being invited along to the partner church one Sunday, Christine's not looked back. She signed up for an Alpha course, loved finding out more about Jesus and rediscovered her faith. She said, ‘Life’s got better. I’m more positive...and the grocery has brought me back to God. Jesus has given me a whole new family who I know I can reach out to’.
