I think one of the saddest things is how somehow many Christians are hyper-focused on shame and guilt, and how those leaving Christianity feel free from these things. Christianity, a relationship with Jesus Christ, was never supposed to be about being ashamed or guilty - in fact, one should find themselves freed of these burdens in a healthy relationship with Christ.
