We all know most Christians don’t read the Bible much. It’s kind of a chore, and getting around to that kind of reading is as hard for them as it is for anybody else. But there’s more to it than that. Even when they DO read, they tend toward the same miniscule samples of the text, and it seems like modern Christianity as an institution goes out of its way to systematically encourage them to do so. In this video, I’m going to analyze how Dustin of Hope Through Prophecy does just that. His style is corny in all the usual fun ways, but most of his strategies for approaching the Bible - from starting at Proverbs or the Gospels to using yearly reading plans to vague platitudes about how to apply it to your life - are pretty typical of Christianity as I’ve encountered it.
