========ABOUT THE SONG==========
"What is a Double-Minded Man?" You may ask. Great question! Others may call it duplicitous, double-dealing, two-faced, soul-split, or of two minds. Someone whose loyalty is divided between God and the world—a person who is living a double life. A lack of faith, uncertainty, hypocrisy, restlessness, confusion, and spiritual schizophrenia marks a double-minded man.
The result of this lifestyle is someone unstable in all their ways. Whoever wavers in his mind is troubled in all his ways.
For the story, we allude to our upside-down music video concept with a retro 3-D glasses effect. The end goal is to get the viewer to take their metaphorical glasses off and see things for how they really are.
The opposite of being duplicitous is having integrity—being of one mind. And that’s the end result as we play through the characters and different roles they are playing in this video: one goes to the left and does the bad, and the other goes to the right and does the good. At some point in our lives, we need to stop going to the left and take the right path.
What I find fascinating is that our daughter Ziza, after watching the final edit of this music video, says, “This is the perfect prequel two Brand New.” For the character that chooses the right at the end of “Double-Minded Man,” then moves towards sanctification and the process of weeding out the bad as our good friend Austin does throughout brand new, another track co-produced and co-written by Jah Pickney.
If this video is a rude awakening (like that one time my brother threw a bucket of ice in my bed to get me up in time for church), then wake up!
Stop compartmentalizing your faith. Follow Jesus every day of the week, not just on Sundays and Wednesdays. Stop living a paradox and being what Jesus called a “white-washed tomb” (Matthew 23:27. Say “no” to sin and “yes” to Him.
