It's a little jarring to see Chris Madsen smiling and relaxed on the cover of his record as the music it comprises of is saturated in introspection and melancholy. The album is half beautiful, crystaline guitar instrumentals and half yearning, spectral vocal songs including this moody epic. It creates a mood that feels both etherial and gothic and also strangely timeless. One of those records that I'm surprised is not better known. Chris still plays today and you can check out his website here: chrismadsen.com
