Learning about the Universe can be overwhelming. We know that the Earth is just one of billions of planets, the Sun just one of the hundred billion stars of the Milky Way galaxy, which is itself just one of hundreds of billions of galaxies. In this talk and discussion, astronomer and BBC The Sky at Night presenter Chris Lintott wonders whether, despite this cosmic perspective, we might just be special after all - and, if we are, what we should do about it!
About the speaker
Dr Chris Lintott is Professor of Astrophysics and Citizen Science Lead at the University of Oxford. He is a Research Fellow at New College, where he helps lead the Balzan Centre for Cosmological Studies, and also an elected member of the Board of Visitors of the Ashmolean Museum. Chris’s work makes use of the Zooniverse citizen science platform, a collaboration with more than two million volunteers around the world. He’s also an author and a broadcaster for the BBC's The Sky at Night.
