How I laminated the lower transom bow of a 1955 22' Chris Craft Continental using 4 layers of 7/16" solid mahogany and West System Epoxy as the glue. I used the existing transom frames of the boat as the form and clamped the glued mahogany right to the boat. By using the boat as the form I was able to get a new transom bow with virtually the same arc and twist of the original bow.
This 2 disc set will take you step by step through the process of preparing, repairing, painting and varnishing a mahogany boat. In this 2 part dvd I explain and show you in great detail how to: remove and tag the hardware, clean the boat of old bedding compound and contaminants, repair imperfections and gouges in varnished and painted areas, properly sand the paint and varnish, prepare hullsides and decks for varnish, prepare the shop for a clean varnish job, apply varnish, prepare and sand bottom for fresh bottom paint, paint the bottom, prepare and tape off the waterline and bootstripe for new paint and much more.
If there is one thing I would like people to take away after watching this video, it is that you can get a great varnish job in any shop. You don't need to have a separate, walled off or dedicated varnish/paint booth to get a clean varnish job. If you follow along with my simple step by step instructions you can get an awesome varnish job.
