According to Exodus 28, the high priest's garments were made with real gold and had many symbolic purposes:
-Ephod: A colorful linen torso garment with a woven waistband and two shoulder pieces, each with an onyx stone engraved with the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel.
-Breastpiece: A cloth garment with four rows of three precious stones, each with the name of one of the tribes of Israel engraved on it.
-Robe: A blue, sleeveless garment with a hem adorned with pomegranates and golden bells.
-Turban: A fine linen turban with a plate of pure gold engraved with the Hebrew words 'Holy to YHWH.'
