Léonide Massine choreographed his second symphonic ballet, 'Choreartium' (1933), to the Scherzo of Brahms’ Fourth Symphony - his first had been ‘Les Présages’ (1933) to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony.
The four act ballet premiered at the Alhambra Theatre in 1933 with Tamara Toumanova and David Lichine in the lead roles.
The footage here shows David Lichine and Alexandra Denisova (the Canadian ballerina, Patricia Denise Meyers Galian) performing in the ballet with other members of Colonel de Basil's Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo.
