Todd Perley | Chopin—Préludes #1 in C & #2 in A Minor @marquisdd | Uploaded March 2009 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
Prélude #1 sounds to me as if Chopin is saying, "Hello, and welcome to my little book of Préludes. We do hope you'll enjoy yourself."This was my grandmother's favorite piece of music. When I would drive to D.C. to visit her, before I could have a glass of water or give her a hug, she would say, "Sit down. Play the 1st and the 20th Préludes, THEN we'll talk." I was always happy to do so.
#2 in A Minor is perhaps the most enigmatic piece Chopin published with the creepy-crawly spider-walk of the left hand marching along its atonal path. A wonderful mood piece.
