There’s a natural rhythm in Willow by Sharon Holland for Art Gallery Fabrics. Paired with Pure Solids in Evergreen and Swimming Pool, the mix of florals and deep, rich hues feels both timeless and fresh, like you're walking through shaded forests that suddenly open to the sky.
In this video, I’m sharing my Strata quilt pattern, a free design that transforms 10" squares (layer cakes) or 2 ½" strips into scrappy strip sets. The layout builds into a rectangle checkerboard-like pattern, while staying approachable for any skill level.

Materials:
Throw Size: 56” x 69” Quilt.
42 - 10” squares or 2 ½” strips
½ yard - accent fabric 1
½ yard - accent fabric 2
Twin Size: 64” x 92” Quilt.
64 - 10” squares or 2 ½” strips
¾ yard - accent fabric 1
¾ yard - accent fabric 2
From BOTH accent fabric colors:
Subcut:
42 - 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangles for the throw size
OR
64 - 2 ½” x 4 ½” rectangles for the twin size
From 10" squares:
Subcut:
4 - 2 ½” x 10” rectangles
OR
From 2 ½” strips:
Subcut:
4 - 2 ½” x 10” rectangles

6 x 7 block layout
