A quick test of two 4-channel Amiga MOD files playing simultaneously with a crude key-operated crossfader control. The notedata in the display is from the chiptune (highway.mod by cartoon). I'm using the latest Oracle JDK and a pure Java version of PortaMod, the Processing version of which is used for the full Win/OSX/Linux version of Chipdisco. There's lots of latency and stuttering when USB MIDI is used (though it's very possible - class-compliant Korg nanoKontrol and some javasound.midi code) but PortaMod allows for the hijacking of instruments and channels so you can plug in a MIDI keyboard and play along with the leadlines or replace them entirely - I've done this in the past while performing my own MODs live on stage. Chipdisco's more about DJing modules, but there's a lot of interactivity built in (way beyond the scope of most MP3 DJ apps).
