In Dafen, a village in Shenzhen that has become the world’s largest oil-painting workshop, peasant-turned painter Zhao Xiaoyong has spent decades producing tens of thousands of replicas of Vincent van Gogh’s work for the global art market. Surrounded by endless orders and canvases, his life is defined by precision and repetition.
