Based at the University of Bristol, Children of the 90s, also known as Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children (ALSPAC), is a world-leading birth cohort study.
In 1991 and 1992, 14,000 #pregnant women in Avon in the West of England signed up to be part of the Children of the 90s study. The children arising from the pregnancy, and their partners have been followed up intensively over two decades.
Over 21 years information about their children — from their first steps to variations in their #DNA — has been collected and studied, providing one of the richest resources about #childdevelopment in the world.
It is one of the most detailed studies of its kind in the world, and provides the international #research community with a rich resource for the study of the environmental and genetic factors that affect a person’s health and development. The research aims to inform policy and practices that will provide a better life for future generations.
