The year 2000 was still a time when the effects of the late 1990’s mergers were still visible. A visit to the Chicago area provided plenty of trains with a wide variety of post merger power. In this show, videographer J.D. Larson takes us on a tour to several Chicago area hot spots in the year of the new Century.
Locations include 16th Street tower and Lake Street in Chicago, Blue Island, Brighton Park with semaphores, Deval Tower, Downers Grove, LaGrange, Joliet and Rosemont.
Railroads included are Amtrak, Metra, Chicago Transit Authority, Chicago South Shore, Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, BNSF, CSX, Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific, Indiana Harbor Belt, Wisconsin Central, Elgin Joliet and Easter, and Iowa Interstate. Post merger locomotives from Burlington Northern, Chicago and North Western, Santa Fe, Conrail and Illinois Central are also featured.
