In this talk, Jayden Garner et al. from the Exertion Games Lab at RMIT University present a novel approach to representing bodily actions called "innominate movement representation", an interaction technique where it is made unclear whose movements are represented. We illustrate this idea through "i-dentity", a game where players have to guess which one of them is making the controllers light up based on their movements. We use i-dentity to highlight how game designers can consider new ways of displaying movement data, when and where we show it, whether we can conceal its representation and how algorithms can be used to change the nature of this representation. We develop a set of strategies that explain how game designers can embed this new thinking into the games they create. With our work, we aim to extend the range of bodily play by experimenting with the dynamics of how movement is represented.
