What if our public monuments honored intimate and personal stories? For her contribution to Caleb Duarte’s “The Monument as Living Memory” in June 2021, Cheyenne Concepcion chose to honor the story of her grandmother’s childhood in the Philippines. Titled “Triumph of a Woman,” Concepcion encouraged us to platform our own stories as a form of resistance and activism, and to change the narrative.
