I haven't uploaded in a while, how are you all doing? I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year! After many years of on and off work, I'm proud to show off my biggest project ever!
I am a huge fan of RPG games. Being able to explore a fictional world of unlimited possibilities and breath taking landscapes while experiencing a grand adventure and story is one of the biggest appeals that the genre can bring. In high school, I realize that I wanted to make my very own RPG game, heavily inspired by games like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. I didn't have a detailed story, but I had a general theme and some characters that I wanted to base it around. Once I got that down, I got to work...but having no background in game design or computer programming, the idea was quickly shot down due to needing to focus on schoolwork and practicing music. Since then, I gave this project the name Alteria and kept it close to me. I kept the idea with me as I went through high school and university, creating melodies and themes, and learning everything I can about music composition whenever I could for this world and story I wanted to build.
This piece is a medley and a mash up of those melodies and themes, and it is the result of my education from the University of Toronto, from the classmates that I got to meet and got inspired by, my passion for RPG games, and the music from them.....and it only took me 5 years to make, haha. Because of mental health problems, it felt like I had to put my focus on my music career to the side for so many years, so finally being able to overcome everything and finish this project was a huge accomplishment for me. So hopefully one day, I will be able to compose music for the games and franchises I looked up to as a kid.
