CHESS CHAMPION 2175 - on the Commodore Amiga. Published by CP Software in 1990. Developed by Oxford Softworks.
Not as visually stunning as Battle Chess, but I think it has a more intelligent engine.

As usual, it's not about perfect game play, but easing stress, having some fun and seeing what the game would have felt like on your first or second go.
