Here's how I created the pearl pour that I used as a background for these cherry blossoms:

My transparent base coat is 2 parts PVA Glue and 1 part gloss varnish. I added small amounts of water until I reached a thin consistency.

I 'rescue' any paint that gets spun or tilted off by scraping it off of the table, straining it and saving it to use as a base coat for future pours. Very little waste!
