Me and one of my friends have been playing modded Terraria, using several mods including Calamity, Thorium, Spirit, and the Experience and Classes mod. We beat this boss on regular mode before, but didn't get much further than that and eventually decided to try an expert mode with revengence just to see how far we'd get.
Unfortunately, this boss was not exactly playing nice with multiplayer, teleporting around and such, which is really bad because the head one-shots you, so I had to figure out a way to beat it solo.
Now, I could have looked up guides for how to beat this boss using only items from the Calamity mod, but I wanted to figure out my own way to fight it. I learned quickly that most weapons and armor from other mods would lag this boss so badly that it was pretty much unplayable, so I had to stick to Calamity weapons and armor instead. I got close to beating it with just Calamity things, but decided to try The Omega Core accessory from the Thorium mod that lets you run super fast just to see what would happen. It wound up making the fight a LOT of fun, so I stuck with it until I could finally beat it.
I did learn that if you get out of his range, he will zoom at you, slowing down a bit as he gets within a certain range of you, allowing you to outrun it with The Omega Core as it chases you for a while. Eventually it will stop charging and will go up. If you stand near its body, it will do 2-3 loops before becoming a bit more unpredictable, so from that point, I just run out of its range a bit. I imagine it is possible to manipulate its AI like this if you use teleporters as well.
I will admit I was fully abusing the fact that I was using the Experience and Classes mod, being a tank class to survive longer. My damage is a lot weaker than what it would be for most players, but this is the character I chose to play through this, so it's what I'm sticking with. I'm sure with enough practice, I'd be able to beat this boss without it.
There are downsides to using the Omega Core as you can see in this video. It's hard to control your movement, so the horizontal lasers are difficult to dodge. I did learn that it is possible to jump at the right time and not get hit by them though. I can't just ignore all of them and take the hits or I will die.
Honestly, I had a lot of fun with this fight. I didn't think I would be able to beat it, but I eventually got familiar enough with it that I won. Hurray.
As a disclaimer, I don't consider myself good at Terraria by any means. I'm just someone who wants to enjoy the content of these mods and see what comes next. I'm playing a tank class specifically because I suck at dodging. I just wanted to show a fun way that I found to fight this boss. Part of me wonders if it's possible to do this with minecarts.
