Student pilots have probably seen these… but might not know what they actually do.

Those black rubber strips on the wing?
They’re called deice boots.

They inflate and break the ice off the leading edge so the wing can keep flying properly.

If you’re training in an aircraft with these, take a closer look:
• Condition of the boot
• Any tears or damage
