As I had to erase the approximately 12,000 steps I had taken on my Pokéwalker due to starting over, I decided I'd try to find a good way to fake those 12,000 back. This is my method.
Using a phonograph (also known as a record player) and a piece of packing tape, I was able to get the Pokéwalker to automatically accumulate steps. If you attempt this, do NOT tape it to a record unless you do not care what's on it; instead, tape it to the platter. Also, tilt one side of the player up sideways. Without this, the device won't register any vertical movement and thus won't increment the step counter. 78 speed works best.
Don't use duct tape, because that will leave a sticky residue on both the Pokéwalker and the phonograph platter. Clear packing tape works best, but ordinary cellophane tape might work as well.
