After more than 2 months in Tirana, Albania, it was time for us to continue our travels so we went to the beach!
Durres, Albania is located about 30 to 40 minutes west of Tirana and is a popular beach destination for Albanians and Europeans from other countries.
Durres Beach was wide and lined with hotels and condo buildings. It felt a bit like the Cancun of Europe to us, or maybe a little like Chipipe in Ecuador.
The boardwalk on the west side of town felt more like Playa del Carmen with plenty of shops and restaurants, but a negligible beach.
If you're dreaming of living in an affordable beach town in Europe, this might be a great option for you. It's about 30 minutes to the airport so it's also a great base for exploring the rest of Europe.
