How to make a cheap guitar sound good?
Many guitarists would like to improve the quality of their guitar or get a signature sound from an alternative cheap guitar model. I will show you how I do it for myself. This is a project to modify and improve a cheap Asian copy of the Gibson ES-335 called JUNO (model SAS-620). My method is based on a complete replacement of polyester varnish and repainting with nitrocellulose. This will add more resonance to the wood. Then I swapped out the cheap stock pickups for the 8Bomb Custom GOLDIE PAF. This is my favorite set. Lastly, I will replace almost all of the metal parts and wiring with better quality replicas of original Fifties Gibson parts. Let's see what happens!
