Here is my Cheap Bike Build Off entry for 2026. In this video I will show that you don't need to spend too much money to make an old bike feels more suited for your needs. This build is specifically thought as a London commuter.

A very respectable British Eagle step through vintage mountain bike that got a small makeover. No need to go crazy, a good proper service, cleaning every parts well, and a few upgrades: new handlebar with personality, some famous tyres (aka Schwalbe Billy Bonkers), some cool Oury grips, a Turbo saddle (for the look not for comfort) and a very nice retro Stronglight 80 crankset. Bike feels like a new machine now!
