The Innovations in Public Engagement and Humanities Advocacy Panel was hosted by the National Humanities Center (NHC), an independent entity devoted to promoting and fostering humanistic research, and chaired by NHC's president and director, Robert P. Newman. He was in conversation with: Jennifer Ho, director of the Center for Humanities & the Arts at the University of Colorado-Boulder; Nicholas Allen, director of the Willson Center for the Humanities & Arts at the University of Georgia; and Jo Fox, director of the Institute of Historical Research located at the University of London's School of Advanced Study. The panel discussed ways that humanities centers can broaden the reach of the humanities beyond the walls of academia.
The CHCI is a global forum that strengthens the work of humanities centers and institutes through advocacy, grant-making, and inclusive collaboration. The CHCI advances cross-institutional partnerships, recognizes regional humanities cultures, and mobilizes the collective capacity of the humanities to engage the most pressing issues in society today. The FHI was institutional host of the CHCI from 2007 to 2016.
