Simon Willison asked ChatGPT Work with GPT-6 Astra for running loops. He reports receiving a map plus GPX and GeoJSON downloads—not just written directions. The useful lesson: ask for the files and the generating code together.

Rechecked September 14, 2026. This is a reported-use explainer, not a new model announcement or our own reproduced test. Simon reports 27 minutes; he later could not recover the Python code and attributed that to conversation compaction. We have not tested the exported GPX or verified route safety.
The animated map is an original fictional park schematic, not Simon's route or home location and not OpenStreetMap-derived geography. OpenStreetMap was the data source requested in his experiment. No successful navigation-app import is depicted. Check access, crossings, conditions and route suitability independently before following an AI-planned route.
