Which Copilot should you actually use to build a PowerPoint presentation?
In this video, you’re going to see Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork, and Copilot inside PowerPoint tackle the exact same real-world task: take raw Excel data, merge and clean it up, and use it to update an existing PowerPoint template.
And the results were not what I expected.
You’ll see how all three approaches compare, where each one struggles, how Cowork credit usage factors into the decision, and why simply choosing the “best” AI model doesn’t necessarily give you a better presentation.
Then we’ll take it one step further with the new Custom Skills experience in PowerPoint.
Instead of remembering a giant prompt every quarter, you can turn the entire process into a reusable skill so PowerPoint knows how to clean the data, combine duplicate names, preserve the presentation design, update the right slides, and even ask for the missing information it needs.
You’ll learn:
How Copilot Chat builds PowerPoint files from Excel data
How Copilot Cowork compares for the same task
How Copilot inside PowerPoint handles the job
Why Cowork isn’t automatically the best answer anymore
How much Cowork actually costs for this type of task
Whether switching to a more powerful AI model matters
How Custom Skills work inside PowerPoint
Where PowerPoint and Excel Skills are stored
How to turn a repeatable business process into a reusable Copilot Skill
The biggest lesson? Don’t assume a Copilot experience that disappointed you a few months ago still works the same way today. These tools are changing incredibly fast.
And sometimes the best solution might already be included in the Microsoft 365 Copilot license you’re paying for.
