Doris Monica, a resident at Waterview Heights Nursing Home in Charlotte, was welcomed into the Catholic Church during a conversion ceremony Jan. 23. Frank Kirchgessner, a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Charlotte who participates in nursing home ministries, served as her sponsor. Father Justin Miller conducted the ceremony, during which Monica received the sacraments of Communion and confirmation.
