‘A Moment's Notice’ is transatlantic collaboration between South Wales’ Charlie J providing the verses and Ohio’s KwanLi producing the whole project. “I normally produce my own music, but I really wanted to focus on my song writing and flow for this project. I met KwanLi over twitter and became a huge fan of his. It’s been a great challenge for me, this project.” says Charlie. The EP sees guest appearances from Ogun, MEZCAL and Katy Mumford. It’s mixed and mastered by Brighty and artwork developed with fellow South Walian Yazmean. Inspired by artists such as J Dilla, early-era Kanye West and Common, the result is a love letter to 00s Hip-Hop with some neo-soul underpinned by themes about love, romance and freedom. The 6 track EP features the single ‘Swiftly’, released earlier in 2022, a real slow jam that’s a love letter to a special someone. ‘Real’ featuring rising Welsh talent Ogun highlights how very little real love in the areas they’ve grown up have received, often put down and mocked, but ends up being the driving force that inspires them. ’Free (interlude)’ is an equivalent of a voice memo, written on his last shift before becoming a full-time artist, which is complimented by ‘Carried Away’ which sees Charlie express the emotion of finally being creatively free to do what he loves. As Charlie raps during the EP "I'm from the city where they never used to show love, now every single show they want to show up" showing his rising presence and his coming-of-age EP.

The week after release on Tuesday 5th April, Charlie will celebrate ‘A Moment's Notice’ live with the EP launch show at The Moon, Cardiff with special guests Ogun, Manlikevision, Blue City CDF + DJ Jaffa. He will also be performing at this year's edition of the international showcase event Focus Wales in May.
