Chappell Roan shocked fans as she stepped out at Olivia Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival Aug. 29 with a collarbone-length haircut. The Grammy winner traded her signature long red curls for a sharp bob with bangs, which hairstylist Virginie Pineda showed off in a behind-the-scenes Instagram Story. Roan paired the new look with a purple winged pillbox hat and a lilac ensemble inspired by the 1997 cult classic The Fifth Element. She previously explained to Paper that her fiery red hair is part of the drag persona she created to honor the 10-year-old version of herself: “I’m just being my 10-year-old self. My whole persona is just me trying to honor that version of myself that I was never allowed to be.” In addition to Roan, the festival included performances from founder Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks and Doechii.
