We've all been there, locked in a heated debate either online on a website like Facebook or YouTube, or in person with someone who seems to be challenging something we just know is right. Maybe it's the Thanksgiving dinner table, or a get together with friends or family where that one person always brings up the dreaded topics, religion and politics. Is it even possible to have a constructive discussion with those who we vehemently disagree with? What does that even look like?
While avoiding the more controversial topics keeps tempers down, these things need to be discussed and we need to be able to disagree with each other in a way that doesn't involve grandma coming across the dinner table with the carving knife. This video covers one of the most basic things you can do personally to lower the stakes while still having these difficult conversations. If everyone takes some time to follow this, we can really start to open up and maybe even solve some of the bigger issues we face today.
