The Department of Community Health Sciences and the O’Brien Institute for Public Health presents:
Changing behaviours to reduce COVID-19 transmission: Attitudes, current behaviours and barriers to public health measures that inform targeted messaging
Description:
This presentation will provide an overview of the research 19 to Zero has been conducting to inform targeted messaging and direct knowledge translation through marketing campaigns, development of healthcare worker tools and community engagement. 19 to Zero is a coalition of physicians, public health researchers, behavioural economists, and creative professionals, supported by a wide partner network that are working to change behaviour to reduce COVID-19 transmission.
Learning objectives:
- To examine current behaviours and attitudes towards COVID-19 non-pharmaceutical interventions, contact tracing and exposure notification apps and vaccines.
- To recognize barriers and facilitators to following COVID-19 public health measures.
- To identify potential public health communication strategies to facilitate behaviour change.
Biographies:
Dr. Jamie Benham is a clinical research fellow at the University of Calgary in the Clinician Investigator Program and Endocrinology and Metabolism. She is a PhD candidate in Epidemiology.
Dr. Raynell Lang is a clinical lecturer in Infectious Diseases at the University of Calgary and is currently completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University.
Dr. Jia Hu is a clinical assistant professor in Public Health at the University of Calgary, and a co-chair of 19 to Zero.
This event is a self-approved group learning activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
